Numerical water models are computer-based mathematical models that simulate hydrological and ecological processes, and are essential tools for supporting water resource management in South Australia.

These numerical water models have been developed by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources and the Goyder Institute for Water Research, and are housed in the Science Model Warehouse, an ongoing data management service that maintains the integrity and accessibility of these assets.

We currently have numerical models for the following topics: groundwater, surface water, water ecology, water quality, simulation and optimisation, statistical and agricultural production systems. View examples of numerical models that are available.

You can view metadata and technical documents for each numerical model via the map or search box. If you would like to access the model files, please read the conditions before requesting access to the files using the hyperlink under each model below.
