Seawater Circulation System

Seawater is regularly circulated through the lake, coming in through the South Gates and out to sea again through the Barcoo Outlet. Mouse over parts of the image below to see descriptions of their functions.

Stormwater Outlet System

Stormwater, mainly from the Sturt River and Brownhill and Keswick Creeks, is normally diverted to sea through the Bacoo Outlet. Occasionally, high flows of stormwater may be permitted to enter the Patawalonga Lake for later discharge to the sea via the South Gates.
